Business Manager

Travis Keating
Travis has an educational background which includes a Dip Bus Mktg, Dip Intl Bus, ongoing study in the Management field as well as completing Sustainable Learning’s Asset Maintenance (Waste Management) Certificate in early 2008. Travis’ past work history includes time spent within the logistics industry, with the global sea freight organisation CMA-CGM, mainly within the importation and exportation departments of ANL Container Line. Travis sought a more challenging and rewarding role, Travis felt work within the Waste Management and Environmental industries was very important. This continues a strong family history and commitment to these sectors. In June of 2006, Travis joined Sustainable Learning undertaking a Business Development role which included: sales, marketing, prospective and current client liaison, as well as the development of existing and future systems.

Senior Trainer/Training Development 

 

Dr Trevor Thornton
Trevor has experience working in education at secondary and tertiary level. He has worked at EPA Victoria, is a Senior Environmental Auditor and has carried out work in many industry sectors, but most especially the waste management sector. This experience has enabled him to develop a range of both technical and broad training programs for clients and assist in the development, implementation and review of waste/environmental management programs.  He has vast experience delivering resource efficiency training to business, which includes the SLA training courses in cleaner production, waste auditing and waste assessment, and environmental sustainability units at Deakin University. 

 

Randall Brouillette
Randall has extensive experience in environmental education, natural resource conservation and waste management.  He has worked in a variety of roles with state agencies and local government and assisted many businesses and organisations with strategic planning, development of programs and implementation of sustainable practices.  Randall has designed and delivered training programs in environmental management systems, education and communication techniques, planning and strategy development and litter prevention.


Industry Trainers

Ken Wilkinson
Ken has in excess of twenty five years experience in the waste management industry. His experience ranges from hands on driving as owner operator of a waste collection vehicle, through commercial operations Supervision, to State level management and maintenance of a transport fleet. Ken is one of Sustainable Learning’s vital full time trainers, Ken also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. 

Justin Jones 
Justin has extensive experience in waste management operations, sales, marketing and OHS, including the management of collection and disposal contracts covering all solid, liquid, hazardous and non hazardous materials
working with both commercial/industrial and local government contracts and tenders.  His experience as General Manager for a large family owned waste collection Company has enabled him to gain valuable experience from tender writing and submitting, operational duties and also driving and operating al vehicles, including Front Lift, Hook Lift, Liquid Collection and Domestic and Kerbside collection.  He is currently the President of the WMAA Tasmanian Branch which has enabled him to be involved in many committees on various issues ranging from landfill, clinical waste and compost.  

Lindsay Mitchell
Lindsay has a broad business background including twenty years experience in waste management. His experience ranges from "hands on" vehicle operation in a waste transport business he part owned, through most aspects of waste management and customer service. He has held senior management positions in one of the larger waste management companies. Lindsay regards his ability to develop people as one of his best qualities.

Vic Bosworth
Vic
has gained extensive experience in his role as a senior officer in the emergency service operational and training areas of responsibility. He has more recently qualified as a Teacher and has been involved in TAFE Adult and Industry Training. Vic has also worked as a self employed transport operator which has assisted in his knowledge and practical experience training needs. Vic has extensive experience in designing and delivering training, assessment and risk products for a wide range of industry applications.

Tony Khoury
Tony has extensive experience in waste management and recycling operations, administration, finance, sales, marketing, customer service, environment and OHS, including the management of waste collection and disposal contracts covering all solid, liquid, industrial and hazardous waste materials involving commercial & industrial waste contractors as well as kerbside contracts and tenders.  Tony has worked in the waste and recycling industry at General Management level since the early 1990’s and has been involved in most parts of the industry including incineration, transfer stations, landfills, recycling centres etc.  Tony has been the Executive Director of the Waste Contractors & Recyclers Association of NSW since 2003 which has enabled him to be involved in many business issues affecting the industry such as Employment Relations, Contracting, Roads and Traffic, WorkCover, EPA, Local Government, Standards, Codes of Practice, Training etc.  

Craig Freeman
Craig Freeman is a training professional for the transport industry. With for more than thirty years experience in almost all aspects of transport and equipment, Craig understands what it means to work the job in this business. He combines working knowledge with theoretical concepts in a meaningful and practical manner that is easy for trainees to relate to. Craig has gained respect from his trainees through a variety training methods that engages attention and participation.

Andrea Witkin
Andrea
has worked within organisations in Canada, USA, Africa and Australia. More recently she has held the position of National Manager Human Resources for KPMG Australia where she liaised with a number of countries within Asia Pacific ensuring a reciprocal transfer of skills. Andrea holds a Post Graduate qualification in Human Resources, a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology and Sociology and is a graduate of The Executive Development program from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She also holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.  More recently Andrea has been called upon to facilitate training and workshops within organisations in order to support development and growth, and the provision of service levels by management and staff. 

Anna Mastwyk
For the past seventeen years, Anna has worked as a consultant and facilitator specialising in providing competency-based training and assessment in industry. Her background is diverse having worked in both the public and private sectors. She facilitates training and assessment in Front Line Management, Service Excellence, Effective Selling, Small Business Management, Business Administration and Telecommunications.
 As a training consultant Anna liaises with training and personnel managers across a wide range of organisations. She is committed to working with clients to identify training needs and work towards providing solutions in line with competencies and performance criteria required. Anna’s qualifications are based both on academic achievement and practical experience. She is a highly motivated person with excellent communications skills and initiative, evident in her delivery style. She encourages a friendly and flexible learning environment with a strong emphasis on the transfer the learning into the workplace.

Terry Grant
Terry has over twenty five years of management experience, including profit centre responsibility for both international and local firms. His Industry experience includes smart cards as Senior Vice President, Payment Systems, Retail Banking and Sales Training and Development at Senior Management level. He has a successful record of: sales and operational management, starting new business operations, strategic management and project management of large-scale projects. 

Alan Curley
Alan has an extensive background in manufacturing and the metal engineering trades.  After serving an apprenticeship Alan continued working in a maintenance role in manufacturing companies whilst pursuing further studies culminating in a BSc in Mechanical Engineering.  Alan has experience in the delivery of practical hands on training to people undertaking metal trades apprenticeships and in the development and implementation of training programs aimed at delivering practical skills and knowledge that can be utilised at the workplace.

Kate Stapleton
Kate has worked for over ten years in a variety of education and training roles.  Her employment history has involved workplace training, project management, as well as the planning, delivery, assessment and validation of a variety of educational programs, operating within both secondary and tertiary educational frameworks.  Kate’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (The University of Melbourne, Parkville), Postgraduate Diploma in Education (The University of Melbourne, Parkville) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Australian Institute of Education and Training, West Brunswick).  She has also worked in graphic design and music management.

Executive Officer

Lorraine Stark

Lorraine has in excess of twenty five years experience in all facets of Administration. Lorraine has extensive experience from corporate level Secretarial support to Principal Project Management in the Building Industry (with a specialist Architectural and Interior Design Practice). She is involved with contract management and all aspects of design and development of company procedural documentation and training compliance.
